A New Spin on Motivation

I’ve been a leadership freak since I was in high school. I can’t even count the number of motivational speakers I’ve seen and the inspirational books, stories, videos, I’ve discovered over the years. I love every bit of it!

When I first decided to do this blog, I knew that this topic was right up my alley. I was going to talk about dedication, achievement, and passion, oh my! But then… I came to the realization that I am WAY too sarcastic, and no one would take me seriously. Shoot. So I had to come up with another approach.

Maybe, I thought, I can write an inspirational blog without all the embellished crap that all the others have. Yep, that’s it. I will write my blog, but I can promise I won’t sugar-coat anything. After all, talk of goals and what-not with sugar on top will get you nowhere (except maybe a trip to the dentist for that gnarly cavity you’ve acquired).

My goal is to get you truly motivated. The fact is that you can watch as many inspirational videos as you want, but all that gets you is a whole heap of encouraging emotions that leaves you a blubbering, sappy mess. I want you to take advantage of these emotions, find an outlet to put them to use. Success is an option, and you can decide if you want to pursue it or not. Just know that the journey to success comes with failure and more failure. You can either cry about it, or overcome it. The choice is yours.

So here goes, a different take on your average motivational blog. I hope to keep you inspired and amused at the same time. And, of course, I am always open to suggestions.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.”

-Winston Churchill

  1. Being a motivational speaker/books junkie myself, I do enjoy being a blubbering, sappy mess which gets me motivated to THINK deeply about what it is I want to be motivated to do (a family trait indeed). So..I look forward to your new take on this, my wise and witty niece!!
